Lee Roy Selmon blends the benefits of a football scholarship within his family and the benefits of community service. The first family is his youngest of nine children of Lucious Selmon and Jessie raised on a farm at Eufala, Oklahoma. In football, he played with his three brothers in Oklahoma. All three were All-Americans. Lucious Jr. Dewey & Lee Roy started for one season in 1973. Lee Roy was named the best offensive lineman in the United States by Outland as well as Lombardi Awards. For the three seasons that Roy played as a player, Oklahoma won two National Championships. He received a third scholarship in 1975, and was named as a National Football Foundation Student-Athlete. Selmon obtained his degree in education. Lee Roy dedicated ten volunteer hours per week during college. He moved to Tampa after graduation, and played with the Buccaneers for nine years and played three times in the all-pro league. His career in business began. In 1988, while working as an account liaison officer for First Florida Bank of Tampa and worked for the Special Olympics Easter Seals Baptist Church Ronald McDonald House United Negro College Fund South Florida Institute Black Life Hall of Fame Bowl Committee. This is why the Junior Chamber of Commerce designated Lee Roy as one of the 10 most notable young people in America. Lee Roy weighed 256 lbs and was a tall of 6-2. While he was in for college, he was the head coach of the team of 1975. In 1993, he was appointed the associate director of Athletics at University of South Florida. He was elected to the College Football Hall of Fame in 1993 by the GTE Academic All-America Hall of Fame of 1994 as well as by the Pro Football Hall of Fame of 1995. The Oklahoma City Chapter National Football Foundation gave an award of the Distinguished American Award for 1989 to Lucious Selmon, Sr. Henry Bellmon, the governor of Oklahoma gave it to them.
