Dolly Parton was born on the 19th of January 1946 at Locust Ridge Tenn. She grew up alongside 12 other kids. The vivid imagination of her mother helped her escape from life's harsh reality. life. Before she could read and write she was making up her own songs. When she got her first instrument at age 8, she started to perform on radio stations in Knoxville, Tennessee. That same year she made her first recording on Gold Band Records a tiny independent label. While in high school, she established herself in the local community, however her dream was greater. She relocated to Nashville following her graduation in 1964. Her first charting records for Monument Records included Dumb Blonde and Something Fishy both in 1967. Porter Wagoner began looking for new female vocalists for his syndicated television program at around the exact time. Parton was signed to RCA Records and then joined the Grand Ole Opry. She was hired in the year 1967. The show ended in 1974, as her own songs like Joshua Coat of Many Colors and Jolene were out-charting their collaborations. Parton recorded "I Will Always Love You" to Wagoner just after the pair split. The song reached No. #1 for the first time in 1974.
